IDEA is a not-for-profit professional association for organizations in the Game and Event Presentation industry that is governed by an elected Executive Board with day-to-day operations conducted by office staff. The Standing Committees direct and make recommendations to the Board about the various segments of IDEA which they oversee. Members are encouraged to be active in the direction of IDEA by participating on one of the various committees or running for elected office.

Bringing Concert Entertainment into Sports Production

Charlie Alves is from Chicago, IL, and for those of you from Chicago, he’s from Lake Forest, IL.

Charlie has been professionally designing Video for performances whether it be Theater, Live Music, or Sports around the globe for 13 years.  During that time, he wore many hats, from being the Tour Manager/ Production Manager, to being Show/Video Director & Media Designer/Director. In those years of traveling, he has worked for acts like Macklemore, Bastille, Alesso, Avicii, Blue Man Group, Michael Buble, Cheap Trick, Metallica, and Big Time Rush. 

His many years of experience and different roles inside of each artist’s camp has allowed him to be creative with some of this world greatest talents it will ever see. From coming up with Day of show ideas and edits, to creating special moments with the use of but not limited to Pyrotechnics, LED Walls, Projection Mapping, Live IMAG Edits, and creative Lighting designs.

What brought Charlie to the IDEA Conference has been his work for the past 6 seasons with the Chicago Bulls. Initially he started off as a production consultant tasked with bringing in new ideas for high level production techniques to add more elements to in game entertainment to the already stellar Entertainment department. Then morphing his position into using projections and all world Custom LED Graphics for all the Bulls Entertainment performances.

Currently Charlie with the lack of Live Events, has transitioned into creating special Virtual Performances. His most current was for DePaul Universities Christmas Concert, where a live multi cam production was created using all live performances to create holiday magic.
